Sr. Michele O’Kelly

Sr. Michele O'KellySolitude has always been an important part of my life. It is the place where I can most deeply be myself and also where I encounter my God and am healed and given life by his love and mercy. This enables me to be with others in a very different and, hopefully, more compassionate way. I find the authentic experience of solitude always leads me into deeper and more genuine and loving relationships with others.

I am truly delighted to be part of a team that provides people with the opportunity to experience the life of solitude and quiet contemplation. It is my desire that all who come will find what they need to help them on their journey and will be filled with the “peace the world cannot give.” (John 14:27)

My background is in law which gives me an understanding of the need for space and silence in the midst of the ‘busyness’ of the world. My exploration of Buddhism and other religions before returning to the Catholic faith has greatly enriched me. I have also been privileged to work with people who have suffered greatly in a variety of situations and this has touched me and humbled me. I bow before the mystery of the human heart.

“The only beauty that remains is the beauty of the heart” (Rumi)
