A Hermit Way of Life..

Glendalough Hermitage Centre offers people the opportunity to experience a hermit way of life that suits their own tastes and desires. This may involve a short stay of a few quiet reflective and restful days or a more lengthy time of silence and prayer

Accommodation is provided in single and twin-bedded hermitages in a quiet and tranquil setting in the village of Laragh. Glendalough Monastic Site and National Park is nearby and beautiful walks are also available on our doorstep on Brockagh Mountain. These walks can lead one either towards the Monastic Site or away into the quiet and seclusion of nature.

Our morning and evening prayer is open to guests and visitors. Spiritual accompaniment may be arranged if requested when booking.

We also welcome groups who wish to avail of a day’s retreat, guided prayer, group reflection or a pilgrimage to the monastic site in Glendalough.

A Hermitage Experience

We offer a space of silence and solitude where the peace and beauty of Glendalough can nurture and heal the soul.

Following in the footsteps of monks and others who have lived and prayed here for centuries, we draw our energy from the inspirational and sacred landscape of mountains, valleys and lakes and open ourselves to its healing and restoring power. We are conscious that in this place we walk on holy ground.

Here at Glendalough Hermitage Centre pilgrims of all persuasions will find a welcome. In an atmosphere of peace and tranquillity, people from different walks of life come to be renewed in body, mind and spirit. We invite you to come and stay with us for a short while or for longer.

Here you will find space to reflect, to pray, to rest and be still and to journey inwards. You will also have freedom to follow your own path to wholeness and holiness. The journey into solitude takes place in the company of other pilgrims and, where needed, spiritual support is available.

We hope that all who come will find “the peace of God that surpasses all understanding” (Phil 4:7). May your visit to this sacred place be blessed.

“Surely God was in this place and I never knew.”
Gen 28:16
